The EuroVelo 14 route between Mátrafüred and Eger starts near the wooded foothills of the Mátra and gradually descends through quiet villages, stream valleys and gently rolling landscapes. The region features mixed forests, open fields and a peaceful rural atmosphere. Approaching Eger, the scenery shifts to the volcanic hills of the Bükkalja before the route enters the historic town framed by its iconic castle and church towers.
